Welcome to the State Health Plan Web Site.
The State Health Plan offers health benefits to all eligible teachers, state employees, retirees and other individuals identified in the North Carolina General Statutes. The Plan’s mission is to provide quality health care products and services for the health and wellbeing of our members.
The State Health Plan offers two health plan designs for its members.
PPO Plans
- Two preferred provider organization (PPO) plan designs from which to choose.

NC Health Choice
- The State Health Plan administers the NC Health Choice program, which provides health insurance to uninsured children in North Carolina.
Indemnity Plan Archive
- The Indemnity plan was no longer an option as of July 1, 2008.
